Dimetix laser distance sensors are ideal for non-contact distance measurement at both short and long ranges. The lasers measure as close as 0.05 m (2 inch) and as far as 500 m (1,640 feet) with accuracies up to 1.0 mm and a resolution of 0.10 mm.
The laser range finder can be used independently to measure distance, level, position, and to detect movement. Pair of lasers can be mounted to measure thickness, length, and diameter. Dimetix long range laser sensors are ideal for both in process dynamic and static measurements.

Dimetix laser sensors are built tough with a solid aluminum IP65 rated housing. Many of our customers place the laser sensors on the factory floor under typical production conditions, so their ruggedness is proven. The lasers are also used outdoors in extreme conditions.

To further protect the lasers outdoors DIMETIX USA offers extreme NEMA 4x stainless steel enclosures manufactured by one of our integration providers.

These lasers can be placed far from a target to keep the laser out of harms way in industrial applications. We offer a variety of brackets, cables, and enclosures to enhance performance.

DIMETIX USA offers several series of Dimetix laser sensors:
  • FLS-C for the fastest and most accurate measurements over the longest distance
  • DLS-C for millimeter accuracy over 150 m
  • EDS-C for economical mm accuracy in a compact package over 30 m
The Dimetix DLS-C series long range laser sensor is extremely versatile. We have placed the long range laser distance sensor in a wide variety of measurement applications:
  • Roll diameter and length
  • Crane / gantry location
  • Saw cut length monitoring
  • Level monitoring in mining operations
  • Web width
  • Bar length and location

The Dimetix laser sensor includes a polymer lens, so that it can be used in food and medical applications that prohibit glass optics.

Interfaces:

Dimetix DLS-C and FLS-C laser distance sensors include serial and analog outputs with digital inputs and outputs available for alarming and triggering. The serial interface permits simple remote monitoring using an optional panel display.

Each laser ships with basic utility software for basic monitoring, evaluation, and configuration. We have other standard monitoring packages available from our integration partners for advanced functionality.

The laser sensor can be interfaced with most PLC processors via special gateways. As an example, gateways are available that support Device Net and Ethernet IP for integration with Allen Bradley control logix and compact logix PLC platforms.

Performance:

Dimetix laser distance sensor operates on a principle called phase shift. The laser signal is reflected directly back to the device. This technique is generally more accurate that simple time of flight methods. We are capable of measuring with 1.5 mm accuracy, even up to 500m.

Unlike laser triangulation sensors, in which the laser transmitter and receiver are separated, the Dimetix laser can measure directly into a long bore or tube.
Distances over 65m usually require a special reflective plate affixed to the target.
